Indian Scientists made "Designer Green Milk"

CFTRI develops 'designer green milk' from plant protein :

The food scientists at Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore , India have invented 'designer green milk' that would be launched at the 7th international food convention beginning here tomorrow.
The Milk Is also been Called The 1.4 Grade Milk
Speaking to newsmen CFTRI Director Prof Ram Rashashekhara said the green milk could be used as a meal and food in the future.

"The milk is derived by plants sources and it will be in white colour. More innovation will also be taken up on this to improve the product," he said.

The Green Milk is made out of morning' soluble protein, portulca, leafy oils, chicory, mushroom and chiaoncimum as emulsifier, all leaf and plant based edible products.

Explaining the technology in developing the 'non cow' product, he said the institute had developed the product after a 16-month long research process. The milk was also called as '1.4 grade'.

The milk could be as good as the milk from the cow, besides it offered very good nutrition at the same cost, he added.

The new technology was ready and would soon be released for mass production by interested persons including companies. It could be consumed by people of all ages including young and senior citizens.

The shelf life of the milk was equal to the normal life of cow milk and it could be kept in refrigerator for five days.

However, the milk should be boiled only onece. CFTRI was also developing technology for converting the Green Milk into milk powder, he added.

The Institute had sought permission from the union government besides approval from the Food Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for launching of new technology. The technology would be marketed by CFTRI itself.

Samples of green milk will be available in the Expo.
